This worked perfectly! I just set it to use 10 out of the 12 threads and it's working perfectly! My 680 works far faster than the 3930K. That's exactly what I wanted to do, Thanks!Well - the issue comes in here in the way scheduling works. A CPU can have priorities set. It can also have percentage of usage set, affinity, etc. With a GPU unfortunately, it is First In First Out - as FAST as possible.
So in order to keep systems running "ok" while a user is working away and not lagging out, while at same time getting max performance, they have the new "slider". So, while on your system, it can be set so the CPU uses a percentage of resource, while the GPU only runs when idle. You cannot independently set the two...
Options...
Set the Slider to Full - in Advanced Control you can right click each individual slot and pause/unpause as needed. Also, you can reconfigure your CPU slot. Delete the slot, re-add it, with say few cores. So instead of leaving it at -1, choose 3 for a 3570k, 7 (or 6) for a 3770k, etc.
Some options...

I would use a VM but I feel that the extra resources needed to run the VM itself would just set it back, but this is a pretty good idea, I'll keep it in mind on another projectThis is what I do.. I run a Linux Folding client in a VM that is set to anywhere from 1-8CPUs. When I am playing a game or something, I simply pause the VM and then resume it when I am done. This is much easier than letting the web interface control it. The downside to this is the web interface can't keep track of it (at least not that I know of). You have to use a 3rd party app such as FAHMon to monitor the progress. In this way, the slider controls the GPU only. Maybe this is what would work for you?
